A Comedy

Hilarity, outlandish characters and plot twists and turns make this an irresistible comedy. Jamie and his fiancé Kay are about to give up after his nemesis, Spencer, publishes the sizzling best seller that his mother wrote. Actress Albertine Johnson arrives on the scene fresh from a fire which canceled a week's engagement of her touring company. She uses the opportunity to engage the troupe in a real-life performance and together they conspire to set that the story straight. With antics beyond your imagination, they promise to leave your sides splitting from laughter.

It is important to note pre-casting is prohibited for our mainstage productions. As a community theatre, we believe in having as many participants onstage as is possible and may dissuade double casting when applicable.

CAST OF CHARACTERS:

 

  • Jamie Durwood: the story’s hero, 30ish, on the verge of losing everything
     

  • Spencer Layton: smooth, slick and bullying.
     

  • H.L. Barrister: book publisher, efficient, no-nonsense, yet likeable.
     

  • Buck Randall: prone to “act now, think later,” rough and tumble, rowdy.
     

  • Kay McNaughton: girlfriend of Jamie, faithful and supportive.
     

  • Albertine Johnson: older, lively, “anything goes” character actress.
     

  • Millicent Trevor: Actress who has worked with Albertine for years, polished and calm.
     

  • Joyce Ingalls: young, naive actress, eager to please.
