Chief Bromden: A massive Native American patient who has pretended to be deaf and dumb for years; he observes everything.
Randle P. McMurphy: A loud, charismatic, and rebellious patient who fakes insanity to avoid prison labor, bringing life to the ward.
Nurse Ratched: The cold, calculating head nurse who rules the ward with strict conformity and psychological manipulation
Dale Harding: An intellectual patient who helps guide McMurphy on how the ward operates.
Dr. Spivey: The often-ignored doctor who manages the ward but is controlled by Ratched.
Billy Bibbit: A timid, stuttering young man struggling with a fixation on his mother, manipulated by Ratched.
